Frigedæg Fallout

—–Mya was watching her younger self as she turned toward him, she was excited that he was coming to get her. Mya couldn’t help but smile, but her smile quickly faded as the face of her mother and younger self fell out of focus, and the sounds of the kitchen became muted. Confused, Mya looked around and settled on her father, he was stopped mid-stride and was the only thing in the room that wasn’t blurry.

Her heart raced, ‘This is different,’ she thought. Her heart then skipped a beat, and she took a step back as her father began turning to her. Her eyes went wide, a confusion of emotions from fear, to joy, to bewilderment flooded into her. “Dad,” was the only thing she could manage.

“Mya,” he said as he turned to face her, “Time draws near, everything is coming to a close. Be safe until I can come to you.” Those dark eyes bore into Mya. Her voice was sticking in her throat. She had to say something. She couldn’t understand what he was trying to say. She didn’t care. He saw her, that’s all she could care about, but as quick as the scene had come it returned to how she remembered.

Everything came back into focus, and her father went and retrieved her younger self, picking her up and bringing her to sample his food.

“Dad,” Mya said softly, “Dad?!” she said louder, and her vision became blurry, not from the scene, but from the tears welling up there. “Dad!” Mya screamed.
